Sugar Plum Harris

Organized by Lone Star Shih Tzu & Lhasa Apso Rescue

Monday morning

More improvement, but still struggling. Her respiration rate is down significantly, but she is still in oxygen.

Folks, I don't know what to do here. This sweet little girl just isn't getting the donations she needs and I'm worried about that. We are so unbelievably tapped out right now - no reserve credit cards, nothing left. We had seven critical cases in the first quarter and now we have three more. These dogs need you desperately. Please do what you can to spread this message far and wide. We want to save this one.

Saturday - improvement
Sugar Plum continues to do well in oxygen. Her respiratory rate is a bit too high outside of oxygen, still, so she will continue for a day or so. Her total bill is likely to be around $6000. After Repo and Lacey, GULP.
Sugar Plum - heart failure
Can you believe it? A third dog in ICU? I had to take my personal dog, Blitz, to GCVS today to check on her heart and bronchial disease. When I picked her up from the house, I noticed that Sugar Plum was breathing more rapidly than is normal. I mentioned it to Dr. Jones and he said "brin her in." So, off to GCVS again. By the time I got to the hospital, Sugar Plum was starting to be mildly cyanotic. They rushed her back to the ICU and put her in oxygen. I just got a call from the wonderful Dr. Hariu that she was doing well - we caught it very early, but.....here we go again. It's exhausting, but what can we do. We MUST go on and save the next one, right? So, please help us with Sugar Plum girl!
Sugar Plum's entire mammary chain is removed
We had the original surgery for the first side of her belly a few weeks ago. As you can see, her incision runs from her chest all the way down.
After she healed, we took off the other side. There is no evidence that the cancer has spread so we're hopeful she has a great future!
Update
Sugar Plum got a fairly good report from GCVS. Although her heart has a murmur, it is working well so she can undergo surgery to remove the horrible tumors.
Sugar Plum getting an echo of her heart murmur

Little Miss Sugar Plum Harris has a grade III/VI heart murmur so we wanted to get a cardiac work up before putting her under anesthesia for several hours to remove the huge mammary tumors she has.
